Teens as Hit Men for Mexican Drug Cartel

cynthiahernandez:

I do not watch the news so I’m usually unaware of what is going on in the world. The only way I find out of important things is when I go to my email homepage and they have articles on recent news. At home I’m well informed because my parent watch the news everyday and even though I did not necessarily watched I still could hear or my mo well tell me of something that was happening or I would look it up online. Recently my roommate has felt so out of touch with the outside world that she goes on cnn.com everyday and reads through a couple of their articles and when she sees something important or interesting she either tells me or send me the link on facebook. Yesterday she sent me a link on an article about two young men arrested in Texas. The two U.S. teens, Rosalio Reta and Gabriel Cardona, were arrested in Laredo because they were part of the Mexican drug cartel. They were paid $500 to sit around and wait until they got a call to kill someone and when they did kill they got paid about $50,000 and two kilos of cocaine. One of the teens started doing this when he was thirteen years out, and because the got so much money they dropped out of school. I get shivers just thinking about how young they are and how much they enjoyed doing such work. What really amazes me is how well they were trained, they both received a six month military style training in Mexico, and how well they were to get away with so many killing before they were found and arrested. It scares me to know that there is so many other people like them who are still in the streets killing, and also that these two teens would still be free if they had not killed someone by mistake and left a clue in the crime scene! I know i should pay more attention to what is going on around the world, and start watching the news more often.
