How are drinking games fun?

jenniferdo:

Ping pong, Thumper, and even Jenga can be turned into an alcohol related game. Basically, any game that a person needs coordination can be used against you when you are drinking. I have always heard of games such a Beer Pong or Thumper and have never really understood the reason for these games.  I mean, I would think Ping Pong and such games would need concentration and coordination. What is the purpose of playing a game under the influence where you won’t be able to play the game properly?

Thumper is basically a memory game, but people have added making a penalty of drinking  for the loser. One of the chants of the game is “how do you play? All f’ed up!” I mean seriously! I can’t understand what is so fun about these games. All you are doing is drinking until you can’t stand anymore; is that fun?

A children’s game Jenga is even made into a drinking game. I don’t even know what’s innocent anymore. I see how people can bring in anything, at all costs, to make something interesting.  Did these people ever think that they might affect children with such games? What would happen if a little girl sees her parents playing this drinking Jenga and think she would have to do something every time a piece is taken out? Isn’t that sending bad messages?

In the end, what is so fun about drinking? If you drink too much, you might not even remember the next day. Is that intriguing to people? In the end, it’s just killing brain cells and making people more stupid with their irresponsible acts. I’ve heard people blame the fact that they did something on the fact that they were drunk. At the time, that person should know what he or she is doing, so how can he/she do something they would regret later? No one was driving him/her to do that regretful thing in the first place. Somehow, people are still able to do stupid moves. I find this as stupid as when people drink for comfort. Drinking is a depressant, so what’s the point of getting more depressed than you need to? Reverting to drinking as an escape, that is stupid.
